            <p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true">Full-Time, Fixed-Term (until 1 October 2026)</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">Applications are invited for the fixed-term posts of Residential Facilities Runner in the Residential Services Department.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The Residential Facilities Runner supports the delivery of essential services across the University&rsquo;s halls of residence during the busy summer period. The post holder will carry out basic maintenance and porterage tasks, room checks and assist with the preparation of accommodation for summer schools, and conference guests. Working as part of a team, the post holder will triage and log maintenance issues. This role contributes to ensuring that all residential areas remain clean, safe, functional and ready for occupation.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">Basic DIY or maintenance skills, an understanding of health and safety principles and the ability to meet deadlines are important for this role. We are currently expanding the staffing of our STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) strand to enhance the foundation year experience for our students through more discipline-focused courses.&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The successful applicant will be an experienced and talented teacher with experience of teaching Foundation Year students across a range areas within the Biological Sciences remit, and a particular interest in biology.             <p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true">Full-Time, Fixed Term (until 30 June 2028)</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The Department of History and Classics at Royal Holloway University of London seeks to appoint a fixed-term Teaching Fellow beginning on 1 September 2026.&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The appointee will be expected to have a proven record of excellence in teaching Classical Language and Literature (Latin), or, in the case of early-career candidates, relevant experience and demonstrable potential.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The appointee will be expected to play a full and active role in teaching in the Department of Classics. They will be required to teach, convene, and examine the following undergraduate courses: Latin at Advanced Level (30 credits), a 15-credit module on Ovid&rsquo;s <em>Metamorphoses</em>, 50% of the <em>Contemporary Approaches to Latin Literature</em> module, an introductory 15-credit modules on Latin Literature and the core module of our Foundation programme, <em>Foundations of Classical Studies</em>. They will also be required to supervise second-year projects on Virgil and final-year students&rsquo; dissertations and to support Foundation Year students in project work. Additionally, the appointee will be expected to contribute to administrative duties, taking on a small administrative load, and to attend relevant meetings and committees, as required. They will work closely with the Head of Department, the Head of Education and other academic members of staff in areas including curriculum design, lesson planning, and the development and implementation of learning technologies. and for offering pastoral support as Personal Tutor.&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">Applicants should have experience of teaching Latin language and Classical literature, ideally to undergraduates in a university environment.             <p id="isPasted">Full-Time, Fixed-Term 2 years</p><p>Applications are invited for the post of Teaching Fellow in Modern German History to teach in the Department of History and Classics for two years from 1<sup>st</sup> September 2026. &nbsp; &nbsp;</p><p>The successful candidate will have the ability to teach flexibly across a range of modules at undergraduate level, including both specialist German history modules, such as &ldquo;(Re)Making Germany and the Germans, 1866-1955&rdquo; and &ldquo;Metropolis: Berlin in the Twentieth Century&rdquo;, and also broader Modern European History modules such as &ldquo;Safe European Home: Post-War Europe&rdquo;, &ldquo;Conflict and Identity in Modern Europe&rdquo;, and postgraduate modules such as &ldquo;Revolution in Europe: Cultures and Technologies from 1789 to Euromaidan.&rdquo;</p><p>The successful candidate will have a PhD and a developing publication record in Modern German/European history.             <p id="isPasted">Full-Time, Permanent</p><p>Royal Holloway, University of London, is seeking an exceptional legal professional to lead our Legal Services function as Head of Legal Services and University Counsel<strong>,&nbsp;</strong>acting as the University&rsquo;s principal legal adviser. In this senior strategic role, you will provide authoritative legal guidance across all areas of institutional activity and help shape the University&rsquo;s Governance and compliance environment. Working within the Governance and Compliance portfolio and reporting to the University Secretary, you will lead the Legal Services team, ensuring the provision of proactive, high-quality legal advice that supports sound decision-making, protects institutional interests and enables delivery of the University&rsquo;s strategic priorities. You will engage directly with senior leaders, including the Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Executive Board and Council, on complex, sensitive and high-impact matters. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced solicitor to play a central role in the University&rsquo;s future direction, influencing legal strategy, risk management, governance frameworks and sector compliance.</p><p>You will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for the University&rsquo;s legal function, establishing standards and ensuring responsive, solution-focused service across the institution. Acting as the senior legal authority, you will advise on employment, governance, commercial activity, research, student issues, regulatory matters and risk. You will oversee the drafting, review and negotiation of complex contracts, support intellectual property and commercial arrangements, and manage dispute resolution and litigation, including work with external counsel where appropriate. You will ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory duties including data protection and UKVI requirements, working closely with compliance teams and the Data Protection Officer. A key part of the role is building strong partnerships across the University, positioning Legal Services as a trusted advisor and maintaining effective external relationships with government bodies, legal professionals and partners.</p><p>You will be a qualified solicitor with substantial post-qualification experience and a current practising certificate, with broad legal expertise, commercial awareness, excellent judgement and experience operating in a complex organisation. You will have proven ability to lead and develop a professional team, communicate complex legal issues clearly to a wide range of audiences and provide authoritative advice at senior levels, including direct counsel to the Vice-Chancellor and Principal as Accountable Officer. Experience within the Higher Education or research sector is desirable but not essential.
