Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Literature in the English Department, to start December 2025 and run for 8 months. This post is to cover maternity leave.
The successful applicant will have expertise and experience in Anglophone Literature of the Modern period, and will be expected to teach first-year Reorienting the Novel and Introduction to Poetry modules, as well as Modernism and Contemporary anglophone literatures.
Applicants should have a proven record of high-quality publication and teaching. The successful candidate may be required to teach BA and MA courses, and to supervise BA dissertations. The appointee will be expected to participate fully in delivering the Department’s objectives, undertaking writing, teaching, and public engagement. They will also participate in departmental administration as requested by the Head of Department.

The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the University is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London. Some teaching will be scheduled at Bedford Square in Central London.
This is a fixed term post to cover a period of maternity leave for 8 months. This appointment could end earlier than expected should the substantive post-holder return to work early.
