Full Time, Fixed Term

Do you have experience of supporting R&D and supporting technology transfer? Does cutting-edge innovation that enables world-leading researchers and creative industry partners to work together in new ways excite you? Do you have the ability to think out of the box?

We are looking for a motivated Research Contracts Manager to join the StoryFutures team, who will be integral to the set up and running of the new CoSTAR National R&D Lab for creative industries, a £51.1m infrastructure investment from UKRI led by Royal Holloway and includes partners such as Abertay University, BT, Disguise, National Film and Television School, Pinewood, and the University of Surrey.

This vital role works across the University’s Research and Innovation team and the StoryFutures Business unit to drive an ambitious R&D programme to deliver industry focused solutions with and for creative industry partners.   Working across StoryFutures projects, the successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of research agreements and the negotiation of licences with industry partners.  You will report to the Head of Research Contracts in Research & Innovation, working predominantly on StoryFutures projects with the direction and support of the Director and Director of Operations in StoryFutures.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and self-motivated professional with excellent interpersonal skills and experience of working in an R&D context and of negotiating contracts and licencing arrangements between universities and the creative sector and/or within and across the creative sector.

We are looking for someone who can see the bigger picture, but with an eye for detail, who can support multiple projects at the same time and contribute to an ethos of collaboration and inclusion in our working culture. You will need to have some familiarity with UK Research & Innovation research funding systems, but more importantly will bring a willingness to learn new systems and to adapt and apply a range of templates, methods and approaches.

This is a full time post based in Egham, Surrey but with the expectation of some flexible working and time at the National Lab, being built in the region. The successful applicant will spend significant time liaising with industry partners across the UK.
