Applications are invited for a highly motivated IT Support Officer in the Department of Psychology, Royal Holloway, and University of London. The post holder will work as part of our technical team in a thriving department which enjoys international recognition for its outstanding record of research and teaching.

Applications are sought from individuals holding a degree or equivalent with skills and experience in IT services. The post-holder will be responsible for engaging in a wide range of IT services to support a diverse range of research and teaching in the department.  Responsibilities will include troubleshooting and user support, setup and maintenance of servers and desktop machines, networking, and website maintenance.  You will liaise with academic, administrative and other technical staff in the department to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the department’s IT systems.   You will also work with University central IT services to maintain network and computer security, and to develop enhanced and more efficient services for our diverse range of users.   

The successful candidate should ideally have experience of front-line support and experience of troubleshooting within a wide range of desktop machines, printers, and other IT/AV equipment.  The post holder should ideally also have experience of Window server maintenance and knowledge of web programming languages such as HTML, CSS, ASP3, PHP and JavaScript.  Experience of maintaining MS SQL or Linux servers would be an advantage.
