Applications are invited for the post of Research Administrator in the Department of Geography.

DARPI (‘Drivers of Antimicrobial Resistance in Poultry India’), an ERSC project investigating livestock farming and veterinary practice in India, is looking to appoint two casual research administrators for the final four months of the project, which is due to finish in June 2021 (with possible extension beyond this, tbc). The role will involve cataloguing and organising data that has already been collected; finishing some desk-based literature and policy reviews; and working with post-doctoral researchers at RHUL and partner institutes to finalise drafting papers for academic journals. Two Research Administrators are needed: one to work primarily with mapping data (Google Maps and ArGIS software) and one to work primarily with mixed methods academic data including photographs, interview transcripts, fieldnotes and project reports.

The post holders will work directly with Dr Jennifer Cole and consortium collaborators in the UK and India. The positions are casual, with a fixed 7.5 hours per week and potential for additional hours at busy times. The positions offer existing students at the beginning of their academic careers the opportunity to experience being part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-institution and multinational research team during the final stage of a major project.

The posts will suit PhD or master’s students who are able to fit this work around their existing studies. Post 1 requires knowledge of mapping software on GoogleMaps and ARGIS and an enthusiasm for exploring mapping data on changing land use, urbanisation, climate patterns, rainfall and flood inundation. Post 2 would suit a student with research interests in socioecologic systems (SES), food systems, animal geographies, peri-urban geographies and/or farming transitions.

In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:

  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Training and Development opportunities
  • Pension Scheme with generous employer contribution
  • Various schemes including Cycle to Work, Season Ticket Loans and help with the cost of Eyesight testing.
  • Free parking

The post is based in Egham, Surrey, London where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
