Resource Coordinator Technician

Applications are invited for the post of the StoryFutures Resource Technician. The post holder will have a key responsibility to work with cutting edge industry partners, researchers and the National Film & Television School in ensuring our technical equipment is managed in an efficient manner.  

The Resource Technician is an important role in the StoryFutures projects, which include the National Centre for Immersive Storytelling, the Creative Cluster R&D partnership and the FestivalUK*2022 projects, worth over £20m. At the heart of these projects is the need to put immersive technologies in the hands of new and established creatives across the country, from VR headsets to portable virtual production set ups, and from spatial audio recorders to Game Engine-ready laptops. As such, the role involves a high degree of organizational and communication skills, liaising with staff and partners across the UK. You will liaise with team members from the NFTS and  Royal Holloway: from research, professional services, training, creative industry and education backgrounds. 

You must have excellent organisational skills and the ideal candidate will have health and safety training and/or technical skills in coding or be proficient in immersive hardware (e.g. 360 cameras or sound recorders). You should welcome the opportunity take a proactive approach to organization and equipment management duties, and be able to approach multi-layered processes in a considered and methodical way. 

This is a one-year part-time post in the first instance but with the possibility of extension, available from 01 June 2021.

This post is based in Egham, Surrey but with the expectation of remote working for the first half of 2021. The successful applicant will spend significant time liaising with industry partners across the UK.
