The College is seeking to appoint a new Head of Department with effect from 15 July 2023. The term of office will be for 3 years.

As Head of Department the post holder will provide academic leadership and management to ensure successful delivery of excellence in research, teaching and learning, student experience and outcomes. As a member of the School Executive the post holder will be expected to work with colleagues to set the academic direction and goals for the School. As Head of Department, the post holder will report directly to the Executive Dean. 

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate excellent leadership and line-management, planning and organisational, budgeting and resource-management skills. A successful academic track record, demonstrated by promotion to Senior Lecturer or equivalent experience, is required for this post, together with experience of leadership, planning and organisation of activities within an academic or similar context.

The latter may be demonstrated through management of a major research grant, leadership of a teaching initiative, or a role within the College or a professional body. Proven experience in successfully managing conflict and resolution of difficult situations is required for this post.
