We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and motivated individual to the role of Journals and Databases Coordinator.  

Reporting to the Head of Acquisitions and Content Delivery, the Journals and Databases Coordinator will be part of a customer-focussed Acquisitions and Content Delivery Team that seeks to provide information resources to College staff and students efficiently and cost-effectively.  Specifically, the successful applicant will coordinate activities relating to the management of the library’s journal and database subscriptions and purchases, including:

  • maintaining accurate records of subscriptions, access entitlements, licenses and usage data;
  • delivering continuity of access and a high standard of service to library users;
  • supporting the licensing of resources for students in international and domestic partnership arrangements and alternative pathways such as foundation year students;
  • ensuring that acquired resources represent the best possible value for money;
  • administering ordering, renewal, invoicing and cancellation of subscription resources;
  • providing practical support for the development and management of the library’s digital collections (including open access)
  • ensuring efficient and effective acquisitions workflows;
  • line managing and supervising Information Assistants

Holding a post-graduate qualification in librarianship or information science, you will have experience of working in an acquisitions role in a library or information service, and experience of line-management or staff supervision.  You will have excellent administrative skills, ensuring accurate record-keeping and a high-level of numeracy. You will be capable of collating and analysing complex information and presenting it effectively to aid decision making.

A confident user of IT, you will be able to use library systems to ensure that library users can seamlessly discover and access digital content.  With excellent communications skills, you can make a positive contribution to a team, and have a positive commitment to excellent customer service.  You can manage your workload to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities, trends and developments.  

This is a full-time, permanent post of 35 hours a week, to be worked Monday-Friday.
