Applications are invited for the post of Team Leader – Boilerhouse Cafe in the Commercial Services department. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Commercial Services team, which is responsible for the delivery of a range of services across campus to enhance the student, staff and visitor experience. 

Do you have an outgoing personality and enjoy working with people? 

The role will be assisting Assistant Manager- Cafes with the day to day supervision of catering operation both term time and vacation business in one of the cafes. You will support the catering team with the running of our artisan style Boilerhouse Café, focused on vegetarian, vegan and healthy products. 

This is very much a ‘hands on’ position to support the operational efficiency of the service, which includes managing and encouraging your team to exceed expectations. 

To be successful in this post you will need: 

  • Ability to lead, organise and motivate a team of staff 
  • Understanding and knowledge of stock control 
  • Outstanding communication skills 
  • Ability to perform well under pressure 
  • Knowledge of Food Safety and Health & Safety legislation. 
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • Barista experience on fully manual coffee machine 

You will be expected to lead your team in driving the business forward and delivering the best to our customers, ensuring the highest quality service and standards. Willingness to attend and run training sessions and meetings is also required. 

The ideal candidate must be motivated by people, with a love for training and supporting other members of the team. Be able to stay highly focused during intense service periods whilst maintaining attention to detail. 

Candidates will need great communication skills and the ability to work using their initiative, making a contribution as part of a team. Previous experience of leadership is required but we will take into account your passion for the industry.
