Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant in the Department of Politics & International Relations.  

Royal Holloway’s Department of Politics & International Relations seeks to appoint a Research Assistant to work on an exciting new project studying the activities of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The successful candidate will join a dynamic team, and collaborate with scholars in the fields of politics, political economy, sociology, economics, and development studies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research under the guidance of the project leader. The post-holder will be required to collect a large volume of archival documents, locate the relevant information within these documents, and code it into an excel spreadsheet using a detailed codebook, as well as offer advice and opinion on drafting and revising the codebook. Additional tasks include contributing to a monthly reading group on global governance, managing the web presence of the project, and offering advice and opinion on the analysis and interpretation of results. 

You must have a degree in international public policy, international political economy, international development, political science, economic and political sociology, economics, or related social science discipline, demonstrating high achievement and an interest in relevant research areas. You must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience in quantitative analysis, and a proven ability to analyse and write up data. Attention to detail is of utmost importance.
