Applications are invited for the post of Head of the Department of Music.

The successful applicant is expected to start in role on 3 April 2023.

This is a leadership position and an opportunity to ensure the successful delivery of excellence in inclusive education and assessment, research and impact, student satisfaction and engagement, and student success. As a member of the School Executive, the post holder will help set the academic direction and goals for the School of Performing and Digital Arts.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate excellent leadership and line management, planning and organisational, budgeting and resource management skills in an academic context. This position requires a successful academic track record demonstrated by promotion to Senior Lecturer, Reader or Professor. The experience and skills needed may be demonstrated through management of a major research grant, leadership of a teaching initiative, or a role within the University or professional body. Proven experience in successfully managing conflict and the resolution of difficult situations is required for this post, as is a demonstrable commitment to Equality, Inclusion and Diversity.

The post is based on the main campus in Egham. It is a fixed term appointment which will normally be for a period of up to three years with the possibility of renewal.
