Applications are invited for the post of Vice-Dean Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, in the School of Life Sciences and the Environment.

It is intended that this role commences in January 2023 (negotiable). This is a 0.4 FTE post that sits alongside the appointee’s substantive appointment.

This is a senior leadership position and an opportunity to work alongside Executive Dean and other School Executive members to support the delivery of School and College strategies. The Vice-Dean is responsible for leading the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion portfolio across the School (and where appropriate across the College) and for ensuring excellent outcomes and consistency in provision. They will contribute towards reviewing institutional submissions to external accreditation schemes, including Athena Swan and the Race Equality Charter, and lead on School-level submissions and renewals as required. The Vice-Dean will drive embedding equity and inclusion across the School, collaborating to create a culture of empowerment, mutual challenge and accountability.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate excellent leadership, planning and organisational, strategy development and implementation skills in an academic context. This Vice-Dean position requires a successful academic track record demonstrated by promotion to Senior Lecturer or Professor, as well as HEA Fellowship and a demonstrable commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. 

The post holder will receive an annual allowance of £4,000 per annum in addition to normal salary. The allowance operates as part of a University-wide scheme. 

The post is based on the main campus in Egham. It is a fixed term appointment which will normally be for a period of up to three years with the possibility of renewal.
