Applications are invited for the post of Optional Placement Year Administrator in the Careers Service at Royal Holloway.

A 1 year 0.5 FTE Optional Placement Year (OPY) Administrator position has arisen within the Careers Service at Royal Holloway. The Service delivers employability interventions and programmes through an annual programme of employer events, vacancy sourcing and promotion, work-based learning and targeted careers delivery in all academic schools. 

Our flexible degree courses enable undergraduate students to apply to take an OPY between their penultimate and final year, which can be spent studying abroad, working or carrying out voluntary work. The appointee will work with a group of academic and Careers Service staff to ensure that all processes relating to the optional placement year are carried out efficiently and assist students with their OPY enquiries. The postholder will respond to OPY or other Careers Service email queries from both staff and students. Some of their time may be spent supporting a student facing helpdesk. If you would like to contribute to providing a great student experience for our students, then this is the position for you!  If students are able to secure a placement year it greatly increases their chances of having a professional level outcome on leaving Royal Holloway,   The position is for 1 year initially but it is anticipated that this will be extended. Hybrid working will be available for this post, with some time spent working at our Egham campus and some time spent working from home.

The postholder will be joining the Service at an exciting phase of implementation of the College’s Employability Strategy and will work closely with the other teams in the Careers Service (Placements, Careers Consultants and Volunteering), academic school administration teams, and the study abroad team in our Centre for Development of Academic Skills. They will also need good organisation skills, be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and influence diverse groups using excellent communication skills.

The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London. It is likely that working from home some of the time would be possible.
