Applications are invited for the post of Compliance Monitor in the Health and Safety Office.

This role will work with 3 other Compliance Monitors to complete a range of health and safety compliance checks including fire safety, Legionella management checks, walkway surveys, shower head cleaning, and Portable Appliance Testing (PAT). This role could be placed in either specialism initially with a view to being able to complete all checks over time.

We require a proactive and organised individual able to work both with both the Health and Safety Office and Estates department. There is a requirement to use various software packages to manage data and provide simple reports. The ability to complete basic maintenance tasks is essential and there is a requirement for routine manual handling of items such as fire extinguishers; this is not an office-based role and significant walking, including up stairs and occasionally ladders, is required. Experience of Legionella flushing, and temperature monitoring is desirable, as is experience in completing Portable Appliance Testing (PAT). Appropriate training will be provided for the successful candidate.

The Health and Safety Office is customer focused, assisting and empowering colleagues to allow them to make appropriate decisions about health and safety. While legal compliance is the minimum, we strive for excellence and best practice within the Higher Education sector. This is achieved through building relationships with stakeholders, both internally and externally. While this role will not be providing health and safety advice, an interest or experience in the area is an advantage.

In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:

  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Training and Development opportunities
  • Pension Scheme with generous employer contribution
  • Various schemes including Cycle to Work, Season Ticket Loans and help with the cost of Eyesight testing.
  • Free parking
