Health and Safety Apprentice

Health and Safety

Location:  Egham
Salary:  £21,713 to £23,129 per annum - including London Allowance
Post Type:  Full Time
Closing Date:  23.59 hours BST on Friday 31 March 2023
Reference:  1222-550-R

Full-Time, Fixed-Term (24 months)

Applications are invited for the post of Health and Safety Apprentice in the Health and Safety Office for a 2-year fixed-term post. As an apprenticeship, the aim of the qualification is gaining a Level 3 qualification in health and safety. Applications cannot be accepted for those who already have a Level 3 qualification or above in health and safety.

This is an excellent opportunity for an entry level position in the College Health and Safety Office (HSO). As an apprenticeship, the position is split between 80% working in Egham on campus and 20% completing training. The role will largely involve working with the Compliance Monitors completing various water safety and fire safety checks, but they will also work with other members of the team across health and safety.

We require someone who has a keen interest in working in health and safety. GSCEs in Maths and English are required, as is a willingness to learn, and an ability to solve problems. Other than this, any experience in health and safety is useful but not required. Due to the breadth of the HSO there will be opportunities to gain experience in a wide variety of areas.

The Health and Safety Office is customer focused, assisting and empowering colleagues to allow them to make appropriate decisions about health and safety. While legal compliance is the minimum, we strive for excellence and best practice within the Higher Education sector. This is achieved through building relationships with stakeholders, both internally and externally. While this role will not be providing health and safety advice an interest or experience in the area is an advantage.

In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:

  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Training and Development opportunities
  • Pension Scheme with generous employer contribution
  • Various schemes including Cycle to Work, Season Ticket Loans and help with the cost of Eyesight testing
  • Free parking

The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London. The training will be completed with RHG.
